TIME FOR TRANSITION

One of the most difficult tasks for me as I write is finding just the right transition to keep the flow of words and thus the thought of my writing moving smoothly.  Much of the time when we write that first draft, we jump from this thought to that idea without too much concern about the flow: however, once the ideas are out there we need to check methods of transition.
Transitions can be considered the glue that holds our ideas together.  Too many can cause as much confusion as too few. Transitions are words or phrases that serve as a connector from one idea to next, or one sentence to the next, or one paragraph to the next One doesn't  necessarily need a transition between every idea or every sentence, but it is a good idea to use a transition between each paragraph. Transitional words or phrases used carefully can make a good piece of writing better, and a better piece excellent.
Reverting again to the teaching mode here are some simple but effective transitions that will aid you in gluing together those random thoughts that are so much a part of our rough drafts.  Many lists are available on the internet and this particular list came from this study guide network.  Another source which offers a two page PDF file (I have used this)transition list in pdf formI would urge you to click on this source and add it to your resource information. My experience has taught me to keep a short list of these transition where I can see them as I am editing. By placing this list on my bulletin board or desk top at eye level, it is not necessary to switch from one screen to another.
Bridging the span from one idea to the next in a smooth and clever method can make  the difference in  .your reader's interest. What are some of your tricks for transitioning from one idea to another?  Do share with us.

P.S.  Our Johnnie is getting quite a bit of publicity from Tyndale right now as her e-book  will be available soon.  Check out this cover...Amazon  She has been featured on Tyndales' blog twice recently.  We know her "Treasure" will do well and wish her God's blessing as she transitions into the world of published writers.
Merry Christmas from me to all of you.
